Rev. Mark Harkness

Pastor

Rev. Mark Harkness has been pastor at Cherry Valley United Methodist Church since July 2018.  He was ordained a transitional deacon in 1999 and ordained an elder in 2002.  He is a member of the Order of Saint Luke, a United Methodist religious order dedicated to elevating worship and the celebration of the sacraments.

Nancy Laurent

Administrative Assistant
Nancy came to Cherry Valley UMC in 2005 after a 3-year term as the Human Resource Director for the City of Belvidere.  Prior to that, Nancy had an active duty career in the Illinois Air National Guard, a component of the United States Air Force, where she served in various areas of Human Resources.

 

Jenny Maragia

Accompanist/Song Leader

Jenny  is  an  active  mother  of  four  who  is  also a  piano/vocal teacher in the surrounding county and the owner and founder of Studio 3. She has been performing all styles of music in all types of venues in the Rockford area for many years. She  enjoys  playing  many  styles  of  music,  though  she  was  trained  in  the  study  of  classical  music  from  a  young  age.

 

Scott Farrell

Choir Director

Scott Farrell has been our choir director since 2014. Farrell holds an Associate of Arts in Music Performance from Rock Valley College. He also serves as the director of the Rockford Operetta Party, and bass section leader for Bach Chamber Choir. Farrell plays piano and a number of percussion instruments. Five of his original operas have been performed in the Rockford area.
